Season Live Seafood (海味活海鲜) @ Pulau Ubin (Island), Singapore

A rare trip to Ubin island recently is not completed without partaking in any food related activity! That's just not possible when it comes to an outing with Mr Kon, Ms Tan and myself.

Compared to my last visit six years ago, the small commercial district in Ubin has more eateries now; i remembered maybe two seafood restaurants, one coffee shop selling Muslim fare and nothing else.

Today, we shall be centering on this new seafood restaurant, Season Live Seafood, that wasn't on the map six years ago. You might wonder, why this over the others?

For one, it is recommended by fellow foodies in HungryGoWhere iPhone app. Another good reason would be the nearby sea view. It wasn't as breathtaking as Krabi's but it feels just right to have a seafood dinner by the sea.

Sambal Squid (Sotong) Rings
(三巴苏东)
The sambal in this dish was just right for me without being overly spicy. Main problem is the sotong which had a mushy bite and lacked the firmness of fresh seafood.

Emperor Noodles
(皇帝面)
There's nothing opulent about this noodles dish despite the royalty tag.

However, it was very appetising (must be the result of heavy frying) and tasted suspiciously like xin chow bee hoon (星洲炒米粉) for which i am a fan of.

Chilli Crab
(辣椒螃蟹)
Not ordering any crab in a seafood restaurant at Singapore is akin to not visiting the Eiffel Tower when in Paris. The same philosophy, just different product.

I am keen to give a favourable review to this plate chilli crab; fresh crab, chilli gravy was comfortably tantalising with an obvious touch of spiciness at the tip of your tongue.

Don't be deceived by its bully size; it was not as meaty as anticipated.

Buns
(馒头)
Using the same example above, not ordering fried buns while having chilli crab is like not having any crab in a Singapore seafood restaurant!

Judging from the snowy white texture, this has to be one of the better buns for crab gravies! *note, the fried buns at Forture are still number one*

=====

Given its location, nostalgic ambience and food offerings, this could well be another restaurant i might bring my mom to. Gosh, i have promised her too many places! I need to win the lottery.
